The Psychology of People Management
Course Outline

DURATION 2 days
PREREQUISITES This course assumes delegates have some prior experience of managing people and will draw on this personal experience to facilitate learning.
WHO'S THIS FOR? This course is designed for anyone who has to manage others’ performance and output.  The dynamics between a manager and their team members are often intangible and can appear unintelligible.  This course will help anyone who has to deliver results or achieve outcomes through others by demystifying behaviour and providing you with some practical tools to improve working relationships and understand the psychology of your people.
WHAT'S THE POINT? The role of a manager often involves managing tight timescales, limited resources and conflicting demands, from Customers, Senior Managers, Directors and Shareholders.  To achieve these conflicting demands, the ability to provide direction, motivate others, delegate effectively, develop and improve others’ performance is imperative.  Increased market competitiveness dictates that businesses have to be able to deliver more with less.  Managers therefore have to be able to understand, and be highly responsive to, the needs of their teams in order to maximise performance and achieve quality delivery outcomes.
WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME? In this two-day programme, you will gain a clearer understanding of what drives your, and others’, behaviour.  By examining the concepts of the psychological contract, we will identify the dynamics that are at play between managers and their staff and what you can do to influence outcomes differently.  You will be able to identify your own communication and psychological preferences and recognise how you can adapt your language, approach and even mindset to build stronger staff relationships and achieve greater productivity in team performance.
