Dealing with Conflict Constructively
Course Outline

WHO'S THIS FOR? This workshop is designed for anyone who finds themselves in conflict situations and wishes that they could handle them more effectively.  For some people, conflict can be something thrilling; something they thrive on; for others, it can be a draining and debilitating experience.  Whether you feel you lack the confidence to stand up for yourself and your rights; or you’re beginning to question whether your aggressive ‘beat them to a pulp’ approach is the best strategy; this workshop can help you recognise what patterns of behaviour you tend to favour and how you could change your style to achieve different outcomes.
WHAT'S THE POINT?

Conflict is part of everyday life; everyone has to deal with or confront it at some point or other.  When times are difficult, tensions can run even higher, creating an even greater need to be able to deal with conflict in a constructive way.   Your ability to flex and respond in different ways gives you greater control of your emotional feelings and reactions; a greater ability to influence different outcomes; and the ability to manage the impact that conflict has on your life.

WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME? In the workshop, you will explore the different kinds of conflict that arise and what impact conflict has on your life.  We will firstly explore the behaviours associated with assertiveness and use a range of activities designed to tap into the emotional responses that different assertiveness behaviours engender.  By identifying your default behaviour and behaviour conditions, we are then able to examine different conflict handling styles to enable you to recognise your most used style and the outcomes that you have come to expect.  This interactive and engaging workshop is designed to give you access to practical skills that will help you handle conflict situations differently and achieve different results.
