Leading Others through Change
Course Outline

DURATION 2 days
PREREQUISITES This course assumes delegates have some prior experience of team management and handling change.  This experience will be drawn upon and used to embed and reinforce learning
WHO'S THIS FOR? If you have any kind of management or leadership responsibility and need to help others deal with change, then this workshop is for you.  This two-day course is primarily pitched at small business leaders or managers who have to affect change on a continual basis, but without the resources or power of the corporate machine.  Equally, however, it will appeal to middle and first-tier managers in larger organisations who wish to understand the people side of change management and what they can do to deliver effective change outcomes.
WHAT'S THE POINT?

Change is continual, yet evokes extreme emotional responses such as fear, anxiety, mistrust, anger, resentment or even apathy. The management or leadership of people through these emotional responses is therefore extremely challenging.  Yet all too often, the people side of change is forgotten, or at best, assumed.  Often change management techniques focus on the systems and processes that require modification and implementation.  But systems and processes will only effectively embed if the people that use them change their behaviour and working practices.  This requires people to buy into the change initiative, be willing to engage with new working practices and experiment effectively to make the changes work.

WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME? In this two-day programme, you will gain valuable insight into how change affects individuals, teams and organisations.   The role of communication will be examined so that you can identify ways you can inspire and engage your staff to embrace change initiatives effectively.  Motivation strategies will be examined in the context of people’s emotional barriers to change, so that an atmosphere of desire for change can be created and nurtured.  We will examine some simple tools to help you map your change experience and identify where others around you are in relation to change programmes.  Through the use of comprehensive case studies, you will examine different change strategies and apply your learning to your specific situation.
